Amy Winehouse- Round Midnight

So 4 days later and it's just sinking in that Amy Winehouse has passed. It's incredibly sad!!! Just four days ago she was here and now she's completely gone. About 10 minutes after the news broke about her passing people were rushing to buy her CDs, this is something about human nature I just don't get. It's kind of morbid... We have to show people that they are appreciated whilst they are still here. If there's an artist you like then go and buy their album, go to a gig or spread the word, just let them know that you appreciate them.

There was a stage when I was at uni where I was playing this song on loop. From start to finish this is a tune!

Thanks for the music Amy. Take care!

Atlantis is Back! Space Playlist

NASA Shuttle Atlantis has arrived back on Earth safely!! I have never really got excited about space before but I thought I better pay attention to the history being made before my eyes. I found myself getting more excited as the shuttle came closer to landing and then all of a sudden my nephew, brothers and sister were huddled around my brother's laptop clapping and cheering once they had landed.  It wasn't quite the moon landing but it was still modern history. Thanks NASA, the crew, technology and the internet for allowing us to witness something like this live.
Here are some pictures courtesy of NASA...

Historic Landing for Shuttle Atlantis- Amazing!!!

Aurora Australis From Space- Everyone always talks about the Northern Lights but what about the Southern Lights aka Aurora Australis.

'Hanging' Out in Space- I can't even imagine how this must of felt...

Over the Bahamas- I actually gasped when I saw this...

These pictures all came from NASA's website and there's a load more over there if you want to go and check them out.

These wonderful views made me wonder if the crew had music to listen to and what songs they would listen to out in space. My iPod would be the first thing in my suitcase if I was going into space. I wonder what their baggage allowance is? Anyway, here are five songs that would be on my Space playlist.

Harmonic 313- Dirtbox

Sonnymoon- Blast Off

Gorillaz- Phoner to Arizona

Nonameko- Full Moon

The Simonsound- Bad Love feat. Debbie Clare

Welcome home crew. Enjoy!

Hi-Soul- King of the Beats

All hail the King! Yesterday Hi-Soul was crowned King of the Beats. The event took part in London's Vibe Bar and what an event it was... Banging hip hop, good vibes and plenty of drinks already made it a good night but when it was announced that Hi-Soul was the winner, that was just the icing on the cake. Here are 3 songs, one from each volume of his G Series...

It's such a pleasure to know this humble, talented guy. Congratulations Hi-Soul!!! Look out for his name and more importantly listen out for his music. Enjoy!!!

Basement Jaxx vs Metropole Orkest at the Barbican

Yesterday I woke up wondering how it could be Thursday already?!?! My week had just flown by and I was a little upset but then I remembered I was going to see Basement Jaxx vs Metropole Orkest in the evening.

What an amazing show!!! Everything about it was outstanding. I had never been to the Barbican before and had heard that it was all seating and no standing so I didn't know how the artists would be able to get energy from the crowd. Also, how was I going to dance if the music should take me? Would fist pumping in my seat be ok? But when it came to it, everyone was standing and dancing at some point anyway  especially after Vula said "you can stand up you know", nobody had to be offered twice.

Highlights for me were 'My Turn' and 'Lights Go Down'. The singers- Sharlene Hector, Lisa Kekaula, Vula Malinga, Brendan Reilly and Le Gateau Chocolat voice's were so powerful, Le Gateau Chocolat's was even more powerful than the image of him in his gold skin-tight all-in-one with heels... When the orchestra was playing the instrumentals we also had dancers/ contortionists  to watch. Lil Buck and Jennifer White were really talented, dancing in HipHop and Ballet styles and then switching halfway through showed their versatility.

Jules Buckley was a great conductor drawing energy from the Metropole Orkest and the Crouch End Festival Choir. Hearing how sweet choirs sound together always make me want to be part of one, if only I could sing... And seeing conductors at work always make me wonder how they look on the dance floor on a night out?

All in all, a very good night! They'll be back tonight at the Barbican and are having a free party after the show, you should try to get down there if not then grab the album.

Thanks to Kamran for the heads up for this concert!!
