Bob Marley- Natural Mystic

There is definitely something in the air right now. I'm not sure if everything seems extra tense in contrast to the merry way people were behaving in the lead up to Christmas but over the last few days there is definitely a feeling of recklessness and some people are just rolling through life with no respect for people or their belongings. These people need to start relaxing and respecting themselves and each other. Enjoy 'Tune of the Day' from Bob Marley 'Natural Mystic'.

Merry Christmas with Nite Jewel

Seasons greetings to everyone on this cold Christmas day, hope you are all having a good one. Here is a festive 'Tune of the Day' from Nite Jewel, hope you enjoy!
I've been slipping on the posting front this month but I've been super busy moving house, working hard and setting goals but I've settled down now so I'll be posting more regularly in the new year. Hope you all have a splendid day whatever you're up to...

ghostandthesong & Chris Rehm- UNSCHÄRFE / SHIMMER

Hi guys, I made it back to London in one piece. Copenhagen was amazing and we also got the chance to head over to Malmo for an evening which was lovely too! I was tempted to throw my passport in one of the canals but thought better of it and here I am...

I haven't posted any songs in a few weeks so here is a whole album for you to listen to instead of 'Tune of the Day'. It's a new experimental album from ghostandthesong and Chris Rehm.
UNSCHÄRFE / SHIMMER has some interesting sounds and can be noisy at times yet still have a calming effect. You should listen to it all the way through to get the full experience. Enjoy!

There's a limited amount of cassettes available through their bandcamp.

Goodbye London

Hello fellow music lovers. This weekend, I'll be doing my bit for overcrowded London and jetting off to Copenhagen with my Transounds homie to dig for some new music. I won't be posting for a few days so I'll leave you with a mini mix that I did as part of the new Transounds project. Feel free to check out the other mixes on the page too. Enjoy and I hope you all have a good weekend too!

P.S. I have just been told that the whole trip has been planned and I am to keep my mouth shut but if I see something I like "feel free to let me know".  Gee, thanks buddy I'll keep that in mind...

Future Islands- Balance

To celebrate finally purchasing my ticket for their London show, I'm making 'Balance' from Future Islands my 'Tune of the Day'. They will be at Rhythm Factory next month with the awesome Peaking Lights so it should be a night filled with good vibes and good music. In the meantime, enjoy the video!

Friendly Fires- Hurting

'Tune of the Day' is from Friendly Fires, one of my favourite British groups ever! They have just released the video for their latest single 'Hurting' and I really like it but I just don't understand how the girl could be so cruel to him after he showed her his amazing dance moves... Nevermind, everything works out in the end it seems. Enjoy!

Soul Train

I was just looking up some Teena Marie on youtube and found myself watching Soul Train videos for the last hour. As well as thinking about the quality of music, I was also entertained by the audience in the majority of the videos. If only I had a time machine, I know what I'd be up to this weekend... Enjoy

Teena Marie- I Need Your Lovin'

Isley Brothers- Who's That Lady

Curtis Mayfield- Pusherman

David Bowie- Fame

Marvin Gaye- Let's Get It On

Michael Jackson- PYT for the Soul Train line

Angered Rebel- Boom

It looks like Angered Rebel has done it again! The 25 year old producer/engineer with a style that’s "cool, relaxing and delicately complex with passion and precision" is back with another solid hip hop album and you can get it exclusively from Beatport. My favourites are the title track 'Boom' and 'Heaven High-Way'. Head over to the website where you can stream and purchase. Enjoy!

Friends- I'm His Girl

'Tune of the Day' comes from Friends and it's called "I'm His Girl". It's just a nice laid back tune with a gangsterish undertone and I quite like the video too. It's out now and you can grab it here. Enjoy!

Patten at Shacklewell Arms

I went to see patten at Shacklewell Arms this Tuesday and he played a very good set! I spoke to him after too and he seemed like a cool, humble guy, he even gave me a nice bag with his name on it. To celebrate, 'Fire Dream' is 'Tune of the Day'.
Good luck in the future and keep making those bangers!
Enjoy!

What happened to tunes like these?

After a tiring weekend of working, I decided to shift my weekend to Monday and Tuesday and what a lovely idea it was! The last 2 days I've been chilling at the beach, riding my bike, visiting friends, eating good and generally just being happy. These fine tunes are what I'm playing to wind down my weekend, hope you guys had a good one too...

Thanks to my great friends! Enjoy!

Audrey Hall- 8 Little Notes

What a lovely day in London town. The sun was shining, no work, chilling in the park, an afternoon in the pub and topped off with 'Tune of the Day' Audrey Hall's '8 Little Notes'. My brother found this vinyl in my grandparent's loft, I like to think of them jamming to this fine tune with a nice cold rum punch in their hands. I couldn't of asked for a kinder set of grandparents...

"If music be the food of love, play on". Enjoy!

Catcall- Swimming Pool

This tune is too important to wait until tomorrow to post. Catcall's 'Swimming Pool' features on How To Make it in America's mixtape to promote Season 2. This is the last song on the mix and it's been stuck in my head all afternoon. I'm super chilled out now...
There's a lot of good songs on the mix and you can download it from the How To Make it in America facebook page.

Fatima- Red Light

Fatima's 'Red Light' kicks of another day of mellowness here at Music Moles. You can probably tell I'm huge fan of chilling out but I'm never lazy, just energy efficient. Take 8 minutes out of your day and relax with me and today's 'Tune of the Day'.

Sierra Lynn Danger- This Town

Creeping in just as the day is ending comes 'This Town' from Sierra Lynn Danger. The trippy, punchy beat and powerful voice mellows you out nicely as the day draws to an end. Here is 'Tune of the Day'...

Boomslang & Supertanzi Feat. Anna Wise- The Certified Info

Boomslang & Supertanzi, a hypnotizing beat, good flow, nice lyrics and the soulful voice of Anna Wise from Sonnymoon equals 'The Certified Info'. I found this song through Anna's soundcloud, where I came to the conclusion that she doesn't mess around with phoney beats making sure her voice is used to maximum effect (and rightly so). This song is the total package, before you play it please show it some respect and make sure you're playing it through some decent speakers and give it your full attention.

You can download the album 'Posted' for free from Boomslang & Supertanzi's bandcamp where 'The Certified Info' is surrounded by other great songs.

Angered Rebel- Emotions

'Tune of the Day' has turned into 'EP of the Day' again. Angered Rebel's 'Emotions' is a nice chilled out hip hop album filled with soothing instrumentals. I look forward to hearing more from this talented producer. In the meantime...

James & Evander- Constellating

I've been away for a while but I'm back! During my time away, I've been listening to James & Evander's 'Constellating' EP, probably one of my favourite EPs this year. It's the perfect blend of pop, electronica and indie and that's why it's 'Tune of the Day'. It's available now through Velvet Blue Music and you can listen to it here:

Cubic Zirconia at The Lexington, London

I saw Cubic Zirconia at the Lexington last Wednesday and their music sounded so good live. Sometimes house music or "ethnic disco" as the band themselves describe it can sound weak when played live but each song sounded perfect and the element of a live drummer added another level to the music. Tiombe's style matched with the lyrics makes her one of the most original women in one of the most original bands of recent times.

They have a new album out next month (can't wait!) but in the meantime here's 'Tune of the Day' 'Black and Blue'.

Check out their YouTube for more goodies! Enjoy!

LIPS- Everything To Me

After another night of madness and mayhem in London I think we need another mellow 'Tune of the Day'.
LIPS' 'Everything to Me' is just a nice, chilled and soulful song. Hopefully the chilled vibes will spread to the rowdy bunch...

You can get it for free from LIPS' facebook page without breaking any windows or causing a mess. Enjoy!

Gold Panda- Before We Talked

Gold Panda's 'Before We Talked' is my 'Tune of the Day'. Why? Because I went for a bike ride around my park this evening and got to a little woodland area and then it came on my iPod providing me with the perfect soundtrack to my little adventure as I cycled through the trees on this lovely summers evening. I also saw a bat!

Silver Apples iTunes Festival

Evening all, yesterday I went to the iTunes festival at the lovely Roundhouse and what a fun night it was! Silver Apples was not a group I ever thought I would get to see live considering they were around in the 60's so I definitely wasn't going to turn down the invitation.

On stage was just Simeon Coxe III with his homemade synthesizer 'The Simeon'. It was weird seeing an old man wearing a polo neck perform but his voice and the music didn't sound old, it still sounded fresh. I think that's why it was weird, matching what I was seeing with what I was hearing.

(ITV image)

The crowd were a little stiff, I think they just couldn't wait for Moby but they started moving a little more when Simeon played 'Oscillations' to close the set. It was a really good set and I'm glad I got to see the music recreated live. RIP Danny Taylor the drummer of the group who died in 2005 and Simeon Coxe III I salute you, for keeping the music going. What a legend!

'Oscillations'

Amy Winehouse- Round Midnight

So 4 days later and it's just sinking in that Amy Winehouse has passed. It's incredibly sad!!! Just four days ago she was here and now she's completely gone. About 10 minutes after the news broke about her passing people were rushing to buy her CDs, this is something about human nature I just don't get. It's kind of morbid... We have to show people that they are appreciated whilst they are still here. If there's an artist you like then go and buy their album, go to a gig or spread the word, just let them know that you appreciate them.

There was a stage when I was at uni where I was playing this song on loop. From start to finish this is a tune!

Thanks for the music Amy. Take care!

Atlantis is Back! Space Playlist

NASA Shuttle Atlantis has arrived back on Earth safely!! I have never really got excited about space before but I thought I better pay attention to the history being made before my eyes. I found myself getting more excited as the shuttle came closer to landing and then all of a sudden my nephew, brothers and sister were huddled around my brother's laptop clapping and cheering once they had landed.  It wasn't quite the moon landing but it was still modern history. Thanks NASA, the crew, technology and the internet for allowing us to witness something like this live.
Here are some pictures courtesy of NASA...

Historic Landing for Shuttle Atlantis- Amazing!!!

Aurora Australis From Space- Everyone always talks about the Northern Lights but what about the Southern Lights aka Aurora Australis.

'Hanging' Out in Space- I can't even imagine how this must of felt...

Over the Bahamas- I actually gasped when I saw this...

These pictures all came from NASA's website and there's a load more over there if you want to go and check them out.

These wonderful views made me wonder if the crew had music to listen to and what songs they would listen to out in space. My iPod would be the first thing in my suitcase if I was going into space. I wonder what their baggage allowance is? Anyway, here are five songs that would be on my Space playlist.

Harmonic 313- Dirtbox

Sonnymoon- Blast Off

Gorillaz- Phoner to Arizona

Nonameko- Full Moon

The Simonsound- Bad Love feat. Debbie Clare

Welcome home crew. Enjoy!

Hi-Soul- King of the Beats

All hail the King! Yesterday Hi-Soul was crowned King of the Beats. The event took part in London's Vibe Bar and what an event it was... Banging hip hop, good vibes and plenty of drinks already made it a good night but when it was announced that Hi-Soul was the winner, that was just the icing on the cake. Here are 3 songs, one from each volume of his G Series...

It's such a pleasure to know this humble, talented guy. Congratulations Hi-Soul!!! Look out for his name and more importantly listen out for his music. Enjoy!!!
